Approximately 80,000 pounds of plastic and over 200,000 trees are used each year to produce disposable diapers for babies in the United States. As a result of disposable diapers, 2 billion tons of urine, feces, plastic and paper are put in our landfills every year. This leaves a great danger of contaminating the ground water. In contrast, flushing solids from a cloth diaper in the toilet and washing them in a washing machine results in the contaminated water going into the sewer system to be properly treated at wastewater plants. In addition to environmental reasons, there are health benefits to cloth diapers. Cloth diapers do need to be changed more frequently than disposables, which will result in fewer chances for diaper rash. Generally speaking, babies who wear cloth diapers tend to potty train at an earlier age than those in disposables.
So why use a diaper service?
Eco-Diaper Service will take care of the dirty work for you. Simply put soiled diapers into the diaper pail. Once a week, remove the pail liner, close up the sack, and place outside the door. We will pick up the dirties and drop off clean ones for the upcoming week. We will take your dirty diapers, wash them, and return them to you next week when we pick up your new batch of dirty ones.
